St Dunstan-in-the-East

@katulik.k – Blessed with the warm weather (17°C) and sun ☀️ Spring is definitely in the air 🌸 and all this makes me want to explore London even more today.
The Church of St Dunstan, also known as St Dunstan in the East, was originally built around 1100 and a new south aisle was added in 139. Regretfully, the church was severely damaged in 1666 by the Great Fire of London. Rather than being completely built, it was patched up. Another severe damage to the church occurred in the Blitz of 1941and during the re-organisation of the Anglican Church after World war II it was decided not to rebuild St Dunstan’s. In 1967 the City of London decided to turn the remains into a public garden, which opened in 1970. #knowyourhistory #history
